Although PDE-5 inhibitors work for the majority of men, for some, they simply don’t. What are the other options available to a man who has ED?

Penile implant or penile prosthesis. An inflatable or bendy structure is implanted into the penis. Although getting this surgery will not affect your ability to achieve orgasm, a high majority of men who have gotten this procedure done are very satisfied with the results.

Vacuum pump. This gets blood flowing into your penis. Around 50-80% of men are satisfied with a vacuum pump, which you can buy for around $400.

Penile injection therapy. This involves injecting a drug to the side of the penis, of which the most commonly prescribed ones are Papaverine hydrochloride, Regitine, and Caverject. The erection usually beings within 15 minutes and can last for a few hours.

Urethral suppositories. These are tablets that are placed into the penis. They will start to work within 15 minutes and will last for about an hour. MUSE or alprostadil is the most common drug used for urethral suppositories. Unfortunately, MUSE only works for about a third of its users.
